Founder-led

Who is behind OwnYourOps.

A small, founder-led company focused exclusively on productized AWS infrastructure delivery. No venture capital, no pivot risk, no growth targets someone else set.

Michael Ortiz

Founder. Platform engineer by trade. Primary support contact.

Before OwnYourOps, I spent years at small startups building production AWS and Google Cloud platforms from the ground up. At every one of those companies, I was the only DevOps engineer on the payroll. Product and engineering teams would grow around me, new features would ship, headcount would double, and the platform, the Terraform, the Helm, the CI/CD, the security posture, the onboarding docs, all of it stayed my job and mine alone. After doing that at several companies, I realized I was rebuilding the same handful of decisions every single time: the same EKS pattern, the same ingress choices, the same CI/CD wiring, the same security baseline, the same set of docs to hand to the next engineer who would eventually inherit it.

OwnYourOps is that work, standardized and productized. You get the platform I would have spent six months building for you, delivered in twenty minutes, with an opinion sharpened across multiple real production deployments rather than a single team's preferences. Because it ships as owned code, there is nothing to subscribe to and nothing to unwind if your needs change.

That is the trade I wish someone had offered me the first time I stood up EKS for a startup. That is what this company exists to offer.

Why founder-led is a feature, not a warning sign.

At $35,000, you should expect to know who is actually accountable. Here is what you get that a larger shop cannot offer today.

You talk to the person who built it

No account manager layer, no support-tier triage, no "let me escalate that." Support requests land in an inbox I actually read. That applies before and after purchase.

The product opinion is one person's judgement

Every default in the generated platform reflects a specific choice about what production AWS should look like for small teams. You will not find design-by-committee compromises.

No growth-at-all-costs pressure

OwnYourOps is not venture-backed. The customers I serve are the ones I want to serve well, not the ones a board pushed me to take. If you are not a fit, I will tell you honestly and recommend what you should do instead.

Commitments in writing

The 30-day deployment guarantee, published support expectations, and security posture are each dated. Nothing is "whatever the account manager promised."

How I actually work.

The day-to-day shape of working with OwnYourOps, in the words you should expect to hear.

I will tell you if we are a fit. If your stack is already humming or the fit is wrong, I will say so on the call rather than pretend the product matches. No one wins when we force-fit a customer.
I ship the standard path. Customization during generation is not something I do inside the price. The whole point is standardization. If you need a bespoke build, consulting firms are the honest answer and I will say so.
Support is async, during US business hours. I do not pretend to be 24/7. Dashboard threads are the primary channel. Calls are scheduled, not on-demand. The trade-off is focused, thought-out replies instead of reactive ones.
If the code breaks, I fix the template. Generation bugs are product bugs. A fix goes into the template so every future customer gets the correction. I do not ship hand-patched one-offs.
I keep promises in writing. The guarantee, SLA, and refund terms are documented and dated. If we ever need to change them, the change is public, not retroactive.
